This was a dispute over a commercial lease. Due to Covid the defendant found it difficult to trade and subsequently sales, and profits dwindled. Although discussed with the claimant and apparently agreed that the defendant could continue to trade, he subsequently changed the locks and refused the defendant access to her shop.
Allegations of stock being stolen, sold without consent, rent arrears were all thrown into the mix, resulting in a claim for £50,000 being brought, alongside a counter claim. The mediation took place via Zoom, took less than four hours and settled.
