Mediation Questions & Further Information

Mediation is a guided discussion where a neutral professional helps parties in conflict reach a voluntary agreement. It’s not a court hearing. It’s a structured way to resolve mediation disputes through conversation and compromise.

Costs depend on the type of dispute, such as commercial, workplace, family, or boundary. Generally, fees are split equally or as agreed beforehand. We’ll clarify payment terms before any session begins. So you will know exactly what the cost will be, which will not change.

Yes, once all parties sign the final settlement agreement, it becomes a legally binding contract enforceable in court if someone reneges.

Our disputes mediation covers civil, commercial, employment, workplace, family, neighbour or boundary conflicts. If it can be litigated, it can almost always be mediated.

Yes it more than likely can. There have been a number of recent high profile cases where parties who refused to mediate were penalised on costs at trial, even though they won. The general rule is the parties have to have a reasonable reason for refusing to mediate. Otherwise they more than likely will face the wrath of the court.

Most mediation services conclude within half a day (4 hours). Complex cases may need additional time, eight to twelve hours. But you’ll know the estimated timeframe before booking and committing to any payment.

Absolutely. We offer secure mediations via Zoom (which we believe is the best platform to use), giving you the same confidentiality and effectiveness as in‑person sessions. Read more about online mediation.
