Clinical Negligence
GP Dispute
Case Study

Clinical negligence was alleged against a GP, after allegedly failing to diagnose a 4 year old boy correctly, leading to the medication provided having an adverse reaction resulting in the little boy dying by the time he arrived at hospital.

Not one of the most pleasant of mediations, the young couple and the doctor were distraught, emotions were high on both sides, a clear error made by the young doctor had led to this unfortunate situation.

The doctor’s apology and explanation only went so far, the little boy could not be brought back; however the doctor could compensate the couple financially, a deal was eventually done, which allowed the parties to put this unfortunate situation behind them to an extent and to now concentrate on moving forward.

The mediation took 1 day compared to the 10 months this UK mediation dispute had already gone on.

The mediation cost each party, only a fraction each, compared to the thousands they had already spent on legal fees, and the thousands they would have had to spend, had they continued with Court action.
